Going to the gym can seem like an impossible challenge for people with an intellectual disability, an autism spectrum disorder or a sensory impairment. This can lead to feelings of isolation, as well as physical and physiological problems.
At RecWest Footscray we want everyone who visits our centre to feel safe, confident and able to exercise.
That’s why we provide accessible facilities and programs for people with disabilities. From one-on-one training to group fitness training, our programs make it possible for these individuals to practice a fitness activity safely with the help of a support person.
Our accessible programs help participants gain the confidence they need to continue their fitness training on their own, at our centre, or elsewhere.
